Last year, there was speculation of new metal bands for the original Pixel Watch, set to release in the winter of 2022.
However, that never materialized.
Now, with the anticipated release of the Pixel Watch 2, it appears that Google may indeed introduce full metal bands, as reported by 9to5Google.
The device has made an appearance on the FCC website, confirming some of its specifications and variants. According to the listing, Google has tested four different watch strap materials:
- Plastic active strap
- Metal mesh strap
- Metal link strap
- Metal slim strap
While we have already seen what the Metal link strap looks like, the Metal mesh strap and the Metal slim strap are entirely new. It remains uncertain how these new straps will differ from the metal link strap.
Additionally, the listing suggests that there will be three models of the Pixel Watch 2, each with different connectivity options. The base model, codenamed G4TSL, will support Wi-Fi and Bluetooth only, while the other two models, GC3G8 and GD2WG, will also support cellular networks.
Based on current information, the Pixel Watch 2 is expected to come with Wear OS 4, featuring a new ability to extract colors from watch faces and apply the color scheme to the Pixel Watch’s UI. The watch is also rumored to have an upgraded processor and enhanced health features compared to its predecessor.
