Elden Ring emerged victorious at The Game Awards 2022, surpassing its main competitor God of War Ragnarök. However, God of War Ragnarök secured more wins overall, claiming six awards compared to Elden Ring’s four. God of War Ragnarök dominated categories such as audio, narrative, and performance, with Christopher Judge receiving the trophy from the legendary Al Pacino. On the other hand, Elden Ring triumphed in the Best Game and Art Direction categories. Both games also won in their respective genres, with Elden Ring taking home Best Role-Playing Game and God of War Ragnarök winning Best Action/Adventure.
Other notable winners at The Game Awards 2022 include Stray for Best Indie Game, Marvel Snap for Best Mobile Game, Bayonetta 3 for Best Action Game, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope for Best Simulation and Strategy, and Gran Turismo 7 for Best Sports and Racing game. Thanks to these victories, PlayStation Studios (officially known as Sony Interactive Entertainment) emerged as the top publisher with seven awards. Bandai Namco and Nintendo tied for second place, with both securing four awards. These achievements were primarily due to the success of Elden Ring.
