Earlier this year, Nickelodeon announced that the popular TMNT comic book, The Last Ronin, would not be adapted into a film, but instead, it would receive a AAA video game in the style of ‘God of War.’ The recent 2023 THQ Nordic Digital Showcase confirmed these reports, officially revealing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin. This game takes place in a dark alternate future where only one turtle survives to protect a war-torn New York City.
THQ Nordic also released a simple reveal trailer, although it doesn’t provide much information about the game.
To be honest, I completely forgot about the possibility of this game, even though Nickelodeon hinted at it earlier this year. When I saw the Nick logo, I thought we were getting another Spongebob game. Not that I have anything against Spongebob, but this TMNT game is definitely more exciting.
Unfortunately, no specific details were given about the game other than the fact that it will be based on the best-selling comic book. It’s worth noting that this adaptation of TMNT: The Last Ronin is official, so it will likely follow the comic’s storyline.
TMNT: The Last Ronin is set to release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, although no release date has been announced yet.
