During Netflix’s TUDUM fan event, the anticipation for their live-action adaptation of One Piece was set perfectly with the release of its first trailer. Now, in celebration of One Piece Day, the newest trailer has been unveiled, further intensifying the excitement for what appears to be an incredibly faithful portrayal of Eiichiro Oda‘s beloved Manga.
The trailer opens with the legendary pirate king, Gold Roger, proclaiming that his vast treasure awaits those who can discover it. This declaration inspires Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) to embark on his journey to the treacherous Grand Line, in search of this treasure known as the One Piece.
As Luffy progresses, he gathers his loyal crew, the Straw Hats, which includes the stoic swordsman Zoro (Mackenyu), the mysterious navigator Nami (Emily Rudd), the lively marksman Usopp (Jacob Gibson Romero), and the skilled chef Sanji (Taz Skylar). Throughout the trailer, this diverse group clashes with each other while also encountering formidable adversaries. Despite this, the series retains the camaraderie and heart that are integral to One Piece.
Heroes and Villains of the East Blue
Unlike the initial trailer that primarily focused on the main cast, the latest trailer and accompanying stunning images shine a spotlight on the heroes and villains who will bring Oda’s captivating tale to life. Noteworthy individuals include Alvida (Ilia Isorelys Paulino), Buggy the Clown (Jeff Ward), Dracule Mihawk (Steven Ward), and the menacing fishman Arlong (McKinley Belcher).
However, the Straw Hats are not alone in their journey. Despite Zoro’s belief that they continuously attract enemies, the trailer also introduces some of their allies like Koby (Morgan Davies) and Merry, the individual responsible for providing the crew with their ship, the Going Merry. Additionally, viewers are treated to their first glimpse of Shanks (Peter Gadiot), the pirate who inspires Luffy to become a pirate himself, and who gifts him with the iconic straw hat.
