Guide to Xur’s Location and Exotic Items in Destiny 2 for July 21-25

With the new activity in Destiny 2, Solstice, underway, it’s the perfect time to check in with Xur and see if he has any Exotics that can assist you in the Bonfire Bash. Once again, Xur has returned with a fresh selection of weaponry and armor from his inventory, potentially with useful stats for playlist activities. Let’s take a look at where Xur is located this weekend and what he has for sale.

This week, you can find Xur in The Tower, specifically inside the Hangar. For his weapon, Xur is offering the Black Talon. Hunters have the opportunity to acquire the Lucky Pants leg armor, Titans can grab the Synthoceps gauntlets, and Warlocks have the chance to purchase the Getaway Artists gauntlets.

Xur’s location in the Tower can be found by spawning in using the Courtyard transmat zone and heading left, then down the stairs into the Hangar section. From there, take another left and make your way to the north end of the area. Look for a staircase leading to a catwalk, where you’ll find Xur patiently waiting.

Here’s a rundown of the Exotic and Legendary items available from Xur:

– Exotic Engram – Costs 97 Legendary Shards
– Black Talon – Costs 29 Legendary Shards
– Lucky Pants – Costs 23 Legendary Shards
– Synthoceps – Costs 23 Legendary Shards
– Getaway Artist – Costs 23 Legendary Shards
– Hawkmoon – Costs 200 Legendary Shards, 125,000 Glimmer, 1 Ascendant Shard, and 1 Exotic Cipher
– Dead Man’s Tale – Costs 200 Legendary Shards, 125,000 Glimmer, 1 Ascendant Shard, and 1 Exotic Cipher
– Xenology Quest – Free
– Legendary weapons and armor – Costs 50 Legendary Shards and 1,000 Glimmer

Now, let’s take a closer look at some of the Exotic armor and weapons available:

Synthoceps (Exotic Titan gauntlets):
– These gauntlets are perfect for Titans looking to enhance their punching power. The Biotic Enhancements provide increased lunge range, improved melee and Super damage when surrounded. However, the stats on this particular roll are a bit mixed. The strength stat is appropriate, but high mobility isn’t typically prioritized for Titan builds. Resilience and discipline are average at best, while recovery and intellect are lacking. Modifying the armor can help address these shortcomings.

Lucky Pants (Exotic Hunter leg armor):
– For Hunters wanting to live out their cowboy power fantasy, Lucky Pants offer numerous benefits when equipped with a hand cannon. Since one of the Solstice challenges requires eliminating enemies with a hand cannon, equipping this Exotic can be beneficial. The stats on this roll are relatively balanced, with low resilience but a decent spread between mobility, discipline, intellect, strength, and a high amount of recovery.

Getaway Artist (Exotic Warlock gauntlets):
– The utility of Getaway Artist in PvE is debatable, as Arc Warlocks can recharge their class ability quickly to keep an Arc Soul in play. However, in PvP, these gauntlets can be quite useful. The roll available has high resilience, making it suitable for survivability builds in the Crucible. However, strength, mobility, and recovery are low. With the right armor mods, these weaknesses can be addressed.

Black Talon (Exotic sword):
– Black Talon is a fun Exotic sword that not only allows you to slash and dice enemies but also unleashes a heavy projectile attack. While it may now be considered more of a novelty Exotic due to the introduction of glaives, it’s still a solid choice for bringing a sword into Gambit matches.

Hawkmoon (Exotic hand cannon):
– This week’s version of Hawkmoon may not have the best rolls, as it mainly features Moving Target without many synergistic perks. Moving Target grants increased movement speed and target acquisition while aiming down sights. However, this particular roll is seldom seen in both PvE and PvP situations.

Dead Man’s Tale (Exotic scout rifle):
– Dead Man’s Tale may not be the most desirable Exotic scout rifle due to its low-tier perk, Snapshot Sights. This makes it less useful for buildcrafting in both PvE and PvP scenarios.

In addition to these Exotic items, Xur also offers the Xenology quest, which can be completed by finishing 21 Vanguard strikes or winning Crucible and Gambit matches. This quest rewards an Exotic Cipher, which can be used to purchase old Exotics from a kiosk in the Tower. You can now hold up to five Exotic Ciphers at a time.

Remember, Xur appears every weekend in Destiny 2, starting with the daily reset on Fridays at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET. Finding him can be a bit of a challenge, as his location is initially a mystery and not displayed on the map. However, he can commonly be found in specific areas such as the Tower Hangar, Watcher’s Grave on Nessus, and the Winding Cove area in the EDZ.
