While filming the movie Oppenheimer, it is surprising that there wasn’t much partying or relaxation for the production crew. Cillian Murphy and Christopher Nolan were fully dedicated to their work.
This doesn’t mean that the acclaimed director of Dunkirk, Christopher Nolan, is against having fun or takes himself too seriously. The challenge arises when you are directing a movie about one of the most tragic and pivotal figures in history, where you tend to forget everything else except the character in front of the camera and the beginning of the next take.
Usually, directors and lead actors take a moment to reflect on their shared journey, but according to Cillian Murphy in an interview with IGN, he asked Nolan to push him hard for this movie, and Nolan did exactly that.
“I said to Chris at the beginning, I said, ‘The best performances you’ve ever gotten from me are the ones where you push me and just push me as far as you can on this one.’ And he did. And I love that.”
There was no room for fooling around. They were solely focused on their work.
We can soon witness the result of their dedication when Oppenheimer releases in theaters on July 21. Rest assured, the movie will be a success. After all, the crew of its rival movie, Barbie, didn’t work as hard, did they?
