Street Fighter 6 has already exceeded expectations with over a million players within three days of its release. According to the Japanese Street Fighter account, the game has sold over 50 million copies, and players will receive an in-game reward for reaching such a significant milestone. However, Street Fighter 6 was not able to beat The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom in the UK. Nonetheless, the game is doing just fine, with more sales expected to come from digital purchases. This is a vast improvement from Street Fighter 5, which only sold 1.4 million copies in the first month and received backlash from fans due to the lack of arcade and story modes and issues with rage quitting. In contrast, Street Fighter 6 has been widely praised for its gameplay and variety of modes, quickly surpassing Mortal Kombat as Steam’s most played fighting game ever.
VG247’s Alex gave the game 5/5 stars in his review, highlighting the strong fighting system and varied content modes. The game reached an astonishing one million players in just three days, as announced by the official Japanese Street Fighter account.
