Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is attempting to break Marvel’s recent spell of misfortune, but this only seems to be prolonging the long-standing curse of the DCU, despite the director of this threequel taking on the role of CEO of the latter franchise. Meanwhile, Karen Gillan may have accidentally led a friend into signing up for an infamous Sony film. Lastly, the reign of the Scarlet Witch as the biggest player in the MCU may be culminating, as someone familiar to Elizabeth Olsen’s past threatens to seize her position…
Elizabeth Olsen’s real-life bestie could become her on-screen nemesis as the MCU might’ve found someone stronger than Wanda
The Scarlet Witch has held the title of quite possibly the most powerful being in the MCU multiverse for a couple of years now, but the rumor mill suggests that the franchise may finally introduce someone more powerful…ironically played by one of Elizabeth Olsen’s closest friends. Aubrey Plaza’s role in Agatha: Coven of Chaos may have her portraying a witch who surpasses even Wanda’s abilities. Here’s hoping that this sets the stage for a future showdown between the former Ingrid Goes West co-stars, who share an affectionate friendship adored by the internet.
The Flash is no longer the leading superhero film of 2023, thanks to DC chief James Gunn
With Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Shazam! Fury of the Gods underperforming, The Flash looked to have a clear path to becoming the top superhero film of 2023…until Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 came along and convinced everyone otherwise. In essence, James Gunn has inadvertently stopped his own franchise from finally beating the MCU to what could have been a much-needed and easy victory. Warner Bros. is surely grateful that Gunn will be working for them exclusively now. However, Marvel is undoubtedly going to miss his secret script consultations.
Did Karen Gillan know what she was doing when she convinced her Doctor Who co-star to join the worst-ever Marvel movie?
Despite Karen Gillan establishing herself as one of the most dependable players in the entire MCU, having appeared in five of the franchise’s strongest entries…and Thor: Love and Thunder to boot, those with long memories are recalling how she inadvertently roped a Doctor Who co-star into appearing in one of the most notorious comic book films in history. We’re talking, of course, about Matt Smith and his hammed-up, dad-dancing villainous role in Morbius
