The 2018 film, “Upgrade,” directed by Leigh Whannell, deserves more recognition than it received. Upgrade Is Recognized as an Underrated Gem

Often compared to Sam Raimi, Whannell skillfully combines elements of body horror, thriller, action, and sci-fi, while exploring the unforeseen dangers of technological advancements. In addition, Logan Marshall-Green delivers an outstanding performance, further highlighting the complexity of his character.
Set in a futuristic world, “Upgrade” follows Grey Trace (played by Logan Marshall-Green) as he seeks revenge for the mugging that left him paralyzed and resulted in his wife’s death, portrayed by Melanie Vallejo. Tech tycoon Eron Keen, played by Harrison Gilbertson, offers Grey an experimental AI chip called STEM, which allows him to regain his mobility. Equipped with enhanced physical abilities, Grey embarks on a mission to find and confront those responsible for his wife’s murder. However, when the AI chip starts to take control independently, Grey must regain control before becoming the villain himself.
