Like most of its smartphones, Xiaomi has again delivered a high-end specs smartphone packed with the latest technology under a great budge. The Redmi Note 7 Pro is one of the premium smartphones in the Redmi series by Xiaomi. It packs amazing sets of hardware including a 48-megapixel rear camera, and an octa-core Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 675 SoC. Everything you get at a cost starting from Rs 13,999 which is unbelievable. Today, we will hook up to the Redmi Note 7 Pro and will find out everything about this phone in detail. So, let’s dive in!

Build Quality and Design

Redmi Note 7 Pro was first launched in China last October and made a huge impression there. You might have seen that from the beginning of the Redmi Series by Xiaomi, Redmi phones haven’t got any changes in its design. But this time, Xiaomi has presented the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro smartphones with a brand new look which is far better than the old traditional look.

Xiaomi has given a glass finish at the back with gorgeous gradient design which shines when light strikes on it. At the sides of its body, Xiaomi has given a metal finish with curved edges which makes it easier to grip as well as it easily fits in your pocket. At first sight, you can’t say that this phone is starting just for Rs 13,999 as it appears to be a premium mobile. I can bet, you hardly find a smartphone at this range with an amazing design as that of Redmi Note 7 Pro.

Redmi Note 7 Pro comes in three color variants – Onyx Black, Nebula Red, and Neptune Blue. As for its build quality is concerned, Xiaomi has packed this phone with tough quality chassis that wouldn’t bend easily. In addition to the durability, this smartphone is very slim giving it a premium look. On the right side of the panel, power button and volume buttons are placed while at the left, a hybrid sim-tray is placed with Dual-4G LTE support. At the top, you get a 3.5mm headphone jack, an infrared sensor, and a microphone while at the bottom, you get a MicroSD port and stereo speakers.

At the front, Redmi Note 7 Pro sports a 6.3-inch Full-HD+ (1080 x 2340 pixels) resolution display based on IPS technology with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and has waterdrop notch or Dot notch on the front. In addition, the screen is further protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 to protect it from minor scratches and bumps.

Specification and Software

With a great design and display, Xiaomi has packed the Redmi Note 7 with high-end hardware which is usually found in smartphones priced significantly higher than this. Redmi Note 7 Pro is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 675 SoC which is based on 11nm fabrication process and is coupled with Adreno 612 GPU. It comes with two RAM and inbuilt storage variants. One is 4GB/64GB configuration which the other is the 6GB/128GB configuration. Also, this inbuilt storage can be further extended up to 256GB via a MicroSD card.

However, Redmi Note 7 Pro comes with a hybrid sim card which means you can either place two nano sim cards or a single sim card and a MicroSD card at the same time. In addition, this phone is rich in connectivity options as it includes Dual-4G LTE support, WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C port, Infrared sensor, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Furthermore, Redmi Note 7 Pro runs on the MIUI 10 which is based on the latest Android 9 Pie out of the box with a couple of pre-installed apps including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc. It features a clean and immersive UI which makes it easier for the user to handle this phone.  However, the Ads settlement in the MIUI is annoying and it aggressively pushes Ads in between the interface. Meanwhile, Xiaomi has provides some cool themes in its theme store to revamp the complete UI of the phone. It also supports a list of gestures and some additional features like Dual Apps, Quick Ball etc.

Performance, Camera, and Battery Life

As we discussed above, Redmi Note 7 Pro is powered by SD 675 SoC which is made to deliver good performance. It easily handles the multi-tasking without any lag. While testing, we run a couple of apps simultaneously and got no lag at all which was amazing at this price range.

Above all, the gaming performance was excellent too. We have tested a couple of high-end games like PUBG at medium graphics setting and got almost negligible drops in the frame rate. We also tested few other games like Modern Combat 5, Asphalt 9: Legends and they too performed well in this phone. So overall, it delivered great performance.

Now coming to Camera, Redmi Note 7 Pro comes with dual rear camera setup at the back. Out of these two cameras, there is a 48-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.79 lens and another is a 5-megapixel secondary depth sensor. At the front, there is 13-megapixel selfie camera sits inside the notch. Xiaomi has packed this phone with some AI-powered features including AI Portrait 2.0, AI scene detection, and Night mode. Also, the rear camera has the capability to record 4K videos.

Talking about the rear camera, the huge 48-megapixel shoots great pictures with plenty of depth and details. It let you to choose either from 12MP setup or 48MP setup. However, at our test, 12MP shooter is a bit better than 48MP setup as it covers more details than the 48-megapixel setup at the daylight. But during low light conditions, the 48-megapixel setup works great.

At the other end, 13-megapixel selfie shooter also captures pictures with good details and depth. However, the HDR and AI technology settled in the selfie camera doesn’t work well as expected. But overall, the camera of Redmi Note 7 performed well for this price segment.

At another end, Redmi Note 7 is fuelled by 4,000mAh battery which is capable enough to run this phone through the day. However, it lasted for around 15 hours on continuous usage which includes few hours of Gaming, social media for about an hour, some online videos streaming and YouTube and about an hour of music playback which looks fairly good. Also, it supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging technology and can charge your phone from zero to 60 percent within an hour which is amazing.

Verdict

Redmi Note 7 Pro is the best phone at this price segment having a stunning fresh gradient design and crisp display. Also, it holds high-end specs which usually you will find in the smartphones available at comparatively high prices. The best features of this smartphone is its 48-megapixel rear camera setup and availability of octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 SoC which is usually not available in the smartphones at this price segment. So, from our side, it’s a must buy Smartphone from Xiaomi.
